The HIVE is the heart of Jittery Wings—a welcoming community for quilters at every stage. Whether you’re brand new, returning after a long break, or ready to deepen your design practice, this is a place where learning happens with encouragement, not judgment.
We believe there is no one right way to quilt.
We believe process matters.
And we believe quilting is better when we grow together.
This is not a competition.
It’s not about perfection.
And it’s definitely not about following rules for the sake of rules.

The heart of HIVE+
At the Center of HIVE+
Each month inside HIVE+, we gather for a live Controlled Improv Design Practice—a guided, hands-on session focused on building confidence through intentional decision-making.
You’ll be given clear design controls—including colors, shapes, occurrence, and order—and then guided as you explore ideas using simple paper templates and a quilt-outline sheet. No sewing is required, and there’s no expectation to finish anything during the session.
This is a practice space:
to try ideas without pressure
to make color and design decisions in a supportive environment
to build confidence through repetition, not perfection
Over time, you’ll build a collection of controlled improv designs you can revisit, refine, or turn into quilts when you’re ready—with support available inside HIVE+ if you want to take the next step.
You’re not here to rush.
You’re here to practice.
