Guild & Group Workshop Catalog

Quilting found me when I needed it most, and it changed everything. At Jittery Wings, I teach because I believe every quilter deserves a clear process, a supportive space, and the confidence to make bold creative choices. Whether your guild wants to crack the code on color, explore improv with structure and intention, or just spend a day creating together — I would love to show up for you. All of my workshops and lectures are offered live via Zoom, so everyone gets the same experience whether they're down the street or across the country. The offerings below are what I teach most, but I love building something custom too. Just reach out — let's create something together.

Lectures

Lectures are live Zoom presentations open to your full guild — up to 150 members. Each runs approximately 60–75 minutes and includes time for Q&A. I love the conversation that happens in these sessions just as much as the content. No recordings permitted without prior written consent.

Fee: $450

Option 1: My Quilt Journey

Quilting found me in 2016 after a health diagnosis changed my life. In this lecture, I share the story of how I went from making my first accidental pattern, the Crooked Christmas Tree to developing Color Flow Theory and Controlled Improv — and why building a community of confident, joyful quilters became the heart of everything I do. Honest, personal, and full of quilts I made along the way. 60–75 minutes with Q&A.

Option 2: Controlled Improv Trunk Show

A visual journey through my Controlled Improv patterns — from the simplest designs to the most layered and complex, or organized by the order in which I created them if your group prefers. This trunk show is a great way to introduce your guild to what Controlled Improv looks like in practice and spark ideas for their own work. 60–75 minutes with Q&A.

3-HOUR WORKSHOPS

Three-hour workshops are focused, hands-on Zoom sessions built around a single skill your members can use right away. No one leaves guessing. All levels welcome unless otherwise noted. No recordings without prior written consent.

Fee: $650 for up to 24 students. $15 per additional student.

Option 1: Color Flow Theory for Color Wheel Haters

If color has ever felt confusing, frustrating, or just plain hard — this workshop is for you. Color Flow is the system I developed because I needed a process that actually worked, one that didn't rely on instinct or color wheel rules I could never quite get or remember. In this three-hour session, your members will build palettes that includes 12 or more fabrics from scratch using a clear, step-by-step process rooted in ROYGBIV order and value flow. No guessing. No color wheel required. Just a repeatable method they can use on every quilt from here on out. Everyone leaves with at least one finished palette and real confidence in their color decisions.

Level: All levels  |  Duration: 3 hours | Students need to come prepared with 30 to 50 different 2” solid and/or blender fabric scraps of multiple colors in lights, mediums, and darks. Since they will Zoom from their own space, they may use larger scraps from their stash.

Option 2: Introduction to Controlled Improv

I know what it feels like to love the look of improv quilts and then make one that feels like a hot mess. That experience is exactly why I developed Controlled Improv. This workshop is for quilters who want to explore improv without the fear — whether they've never tried it or they've tried it and walked away frustrated. Your members will learn five clear design controls — shape, repetition, percussion, hierarchy, and order — that replace guesswork with controls. Through guided prompts, they'll build improv units that feel balanced, cohesive, and purposeful. They leave with at least two finished layouts on a design wall or glued to paper, a clear framework, and the confidence to begin again without fear.

Level: All levels  |  Duration: 3 hours | Students will be provided with a page of templates they should have cut out before the class begins. Using 5 of the templates, they should precut 10 to 30 pieces from solid and/or blender fabric scraps of multiple colors in lights, mediums, and darks. Since they will Zoom from their own space, they may add more fabrics as the workshop progresses, but having some cut out in advance will mean that get farther in the practice.

6-Hour Workshops

Full-day Zoom workshops where your members show up ready to sew and leave with real progress on a beautiful mini quilt. A detailed fabric cutting guide is sent before class so no one wastes a minute of our time together. Classes include a 45-minute lunch break and begin no earlier than 9am Central. No recordings without prior written consent.

Fee: $950 for up to 16 students. $15 per additional student (24 student maximum).

Charade Quilt Mini

The Charade Quilt is where Color Flow and Controlled Improv meet — and the result is stunning. This is one of my favorite patterns to teach because students are always surprised by how confident they feel by the end of the day. It pieces quickly with no trimming necessary. Students will receive a pre-workshop guide for selecting fabrics, preparing them, and cutting them. During the class we will work through matching fabrics during the piecing process, and laying out a quilt that measures 48"x48".

Level: Confident Beginner to Advanced  |  Duration: 6 hours  |  Pre-cut fabrics required  |  Students should purchase the printed or PDF pattern before the workshop.

Cosmic Sass Quilt Mini

Big, bold, and full of personality — the Cosmic Sass quilt never fails to delight. This class digs into color placement and the kind of improv-informed decisions that make a quilt feel alive. Your members will practice reading their fabric, trusting their eye, and building something that is uniquely theirs. Students will receive a pre-workshop guide for selecting fabrics, preparing them, and making and trimming their HST blocks. During the class we will work through matching fabrics during the piecing process, and laying out a quilt that measures at least 42" on all sides.

Level: All Levels  |  Duration: 6 hours  |  Pre-cut fabrics and some sewing required before the class.  |  Students should purchase the printed or PDF pattern before the workshop.

Gingham Meadow Quilt Mini

Joyful, colorful, and deeply satisfying to make — the Gingham Meadow quilt is a wonderful way to put Color Flow Theory into practice. We'll spend the day sewing, learning, and building the kind of color confidence that carries over into every future quilt. Students will receive a pre-workshop guide for selecting fabrics, preparing them, and making and trimming their 4-Square blocks. During the class we will work through matching fabrics during the piecing process for HSTs, and laying out a quilt that measures at least 42" on all sides.

Level: All Levels  |  Duration: 6 hours  |  Pre-cut fabrics and some sewing required before the class.  |  Students should purchase the printed or PDF pattern before the workshop.

Something else on your mind?

I love building custom workshops for guilds. If your group has a specific skill, pattern, or topic they want to dig into — or a skill level that needs a tailored approach — reach out and let's figure it out together. Building confidence in quilters is what I do, and I am happy to craft something just right for your group.
